Today, something happened that I honestly couldn’t make up. 😂
I released my new single, “Aftertaste of You,” and naturally, I started sharing clips from the music video on TikTok.
There was just one tiny problem…
TikTok muted my own song.
Yes. My song.
My recording.
My release.
On my own TikTok account. 😂
The audio was restricted because of a copyright-related issue, even though I’m the artist and rights holder. I’ve already contacted TikTok support and submitted the issue for review, so hopefully they’ll get it sorted out.
But then things got even stranger.
A few hours later, I checked my email and saw a message from TikTok:
🔥 “8.2K people watched your video!”
And underneath that:
“Your TikTok is a hit!”
I just stared at my phone.
A hit?! IT HAS NO SOUND. 😂😂😂
Apparently, more than 8,000 views happened while my music video was sitting there without the actual music it was supposed to promote.
I genuinely don’t know whether to be frustrated or impressed.
On one hand, having your own music muted on your own music video on release day is definitely not ideal.
On the other hand…
8.2K views without anyone even being able to hear the song?!
I guess the visuals were doing some serious heavy lifting. 😂
So thank you to everyone who watched my accidentally silent music video.
And TikTok, I appreciate you telling me that my video is a hit…
but could I have my song back now? 😂
